Job Summary

The University of Miami seeks a highly skilled Business Systems Analyst 3 to join its team. This full-time position will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data to inform technology plans and strategies, improving overall performance, reducing costs, and increasing efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze application issues and cases, creating detailed support documentation and performing system maintenance.
  • Provide training for internal users and monitor system availability, working closely with system administrators and business systems analysts.
  • Recommend changes in development, maintenance, and system standards, developing detailed action plans with goals and target dates.
  • Maintain ongoing communication and rapport with the management team regarding project activity, flowcharting existing processes versus improved flow.
  • Prepare time and cost estimates for projects and proposals, conducting research for best practice models and benchmarking.
  • Apply industrial and management engineering techniques to improve overall systems, analyzing existing flow of people, activities, and materials.
  • Design systems for production and inventory control, developing management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost analysis.
  • Improve productivity through the application of technology and human factors, designing supply chain management standards across the university.
  • Conduct data collection to measure baseline versus improvement, creating formal presentations for projects and studies.
  • Participate in continuing quality improvement activities, adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures.
Department-Specific Functions

Work closely with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to document and analyze business practices, identify pain points, provide training, and recommend improvements.

Facilitate decisions regarding the priority of projects and backlog items for implementation, creating clear and detailed business requirement documentation.

Organize stakeholder meetings and share meeting minutes, including decisions and action items, working with departments/leadership to develop business plans.

Use strategic planning tools and internal analytic tools with high proficiency, acting as liaison to other departments, vendors, and external parties.

Lead all aspects of end-to-end business processes, providing continuous and visible ownership of end-to-end process performance.

Implement quantitative and qualitative metrics and KPIs, creating and maintaining performance dashboards to monitor these KPIs across various functions.

Proficient usage of interpretation and visualization of tools within the University, allowing for the creation of operational owners that use data to drive decision making.
