Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at United Vision Pet Partners. As a key member of our veterinary practice, you will play a vital role in supporting our team and ensuring the well-being of our animal patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care:
    • Assist veterinary nurses and doctors with examinations, diagnostics, medical procedures, and surgeries.
    • Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately during examinations and treatments.
    • Monitor and record vital signs of patients.
    • Administer medications and treatments under supervision as directed by veterinarians.
    • Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery.
  • Client Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with clients to gather information about their pets' health and behavior.
    • Educate clients on monitoring their pet, administration and side effects of medications, and treatment plans.
    • Relay client questions to nurses and doctors for consultation and address concerns with empathy and professionalism.
    • Follow up with clients to ensure compliance with prescribed treatments.
  • Eagerness to Learn:
    • Demonstrate a strong desire to expand your knowledge and skills in veterinary medicine.
    • Actively participate in continuing education opportunities.
    • Seek mentorship and guidance from experienced team members.
  • Hospital Maintenance:
    • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in animal housing areas and treatment rooms.
    • Assist with inventory management and restocking of supplies.
    • Ensure equipment is properly sanitized and maintained.
Requirements
  • Location: United Vision Pet Partners
  • Hours: Monday-Friday between 8a-8p, four ten-hour shifts. Weekends will be included in schedule when hospital opens weekend hours.
  • Salary: $16-23/hr
  • Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; formal veterinary assistant training or certification is preferred.
    • Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred but not required.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Compassion for animals and their owners.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes emotionally challenging environment.
    • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and treatment methods.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
