ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Professional Nurse assigned to the Emergency Room Floats is responsible for delivering patient care through the Nursing Process. This role involves implementing Nursing Service standards of care and practice, tailored to the specific ages of patients and clinical areas. The nurse will demonstrate critical thinking in assessing, planning, prioritizing, delivering, and evaluating patient care. Identifying individual patient and significant other learning needs is essential, along with implementing suitable measures to address those needs. Respecting and safeguarding patient rights is paramount, and serving as a patient advocate is a key responsibility. Maintaining confidentiality of patient information and ensuring effective communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families is crucial. The nurse will also engage in the development of standards and participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives, floating between the Emergency Room and Med-Surg departments as needed.
QualificationsA Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred. Candidates must hold a current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York. Certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS is required, along with prior experience in the Emergency Department.
