Job Title: Director of People Services

Location: Missoula, MT 59804

Salary: $117,000 - $177,000 (depending on experience)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of People Services to lead our Human Resources team in Missoula, MT. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in human resources leadership, with a proven track record in union environments. This role is critical in driving HR strategy, fostering a positive workplace culture, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Oversee all HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and compliance.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on HR matters, including workforce planning, talent management, and organizational development.
  • Manage labor relations, including union negotiations, contract administration, and grievance resolution.
  • Develop and maintain HR metrics to assess the effectiveness of HR programs and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations, including those related to unionized environments.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that promotes employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
  • Lead the organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, ensuring that all HR practices support a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Develop and implement training and development programs to enhance employee skills and support career growth.

Must-Haves:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in human resources, business administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of human resources experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Union Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing labor relations, including union negotiations and contract administration.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Certifications: Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Society for Human Resource Management - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification preferred.
  • Industry Experience: Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Education: Masters degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across all levels of the organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor laws, HR best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience in handling complex labor relations and union negotiations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees, union representatives, and leadership.
  • Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
