About the Role

Mortenson is seeking a skilled Lighting Product Specialist to join our BLU54 division in Minneapolis. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for implementing sourcing and procurement strategies, estimating, and managing the supply of materials for construction projects from preconstruction through project close-out.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Phase and Estimating
    • Develop and implement project pre-proposal plans, identifying procurement and project management strategies.
    • Create detailed Lighting Bills of Materials and quotes.
    • Accurately estimate project material needs for a given product line by effectively reading construction documents and drawings.
    • Develop pricing strategies and quote individual project scopes alongside the Product Manager.
    • Be familiar with our business model and its competitive advantages, thoroughly utilizing and communicating the advantages during the project cycle.
    • Obtain and properly scope quotes for services and materials, negotiating purchase orders with suppliers.
  • Project Management
    • Manage vendors, suppliers, and trade partners to meet project budgets and schedules.
    • Work with BLU54 Account Specialists to purchase materials and services.
    • Collaborate with the Product Manager to create and maintain project schedules.
    • Manage shop drawing and/or product submittal processes with suppliers and trade partners, reviewing submittals for accuracy and managing client and design team review/comments.
    • Professionally communicate with customers and project design teams.
    • Maintain relationships with suppliers through day-to-day interactions.
    • Coordinate with the financial team for proper customer billing and supplier payments.
    • Work with Account Manager and Product Manager to establish regional/local market-specific business delivery models.
    • Manage multiple projects in estimating and project management.
    • Support the product category growth and expansion.
    • Continuously improve processes to provide timely and accurate information to team members and customers.
Requirements
  • Minimum of three years' industry-related experience preferred.
  • Experience in the field of assigned product line.
  • Proficient in MS Suite Excel and Outlook.
  • Software: ProCore, Parspec, BlueBeam.
  • Active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
  • Ability to use modeling software preferred.
  • CAD and BIM collaboration nice to have.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% - 20% monthly or quarterly to project sites.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • If no bachelor's degree, high school diploma/GED required with 5+ years' experience.
