Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a Low Enriched Uranium (LEU) Materials Process Engineer to join our Nuclear Operations Group in Lynchburg, VA. This role is essential for supporting our production operations as the technical authority and subject matter expert in development engineering related to Silicide for Research Test Reactors (RTR).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead troubleshooting and analysis of production and quality challenges, identifying and implementing effective solutions.
- Coordinate job order information for production and development activities.
- Draft and revise operational procedures and technical documentation.
- Develop equipment functional specifications while adhering to established change management and safety evaluation processes.
- Engage with vendors to procure necessary raw materials.
- Address customer inquiries and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- A minimum of a Master's degree in Engineering or Physics, accompanied by at least seven (7) years of relevant experience.
- Preferred disciplines include Materials Science, Chemical, Mechanical, or Nuclear Engineering.
- A minimum of four (4) years of development experience is required.
- Background in metals/alloys and metal matrix composites is advantageous.
- Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Solid Edge, is preferred.
- Strong self-motivation, independence, and results-oriented mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
- Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory, with no dual citizenship, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this position is between $92,000 and $142,000 annually, contingent upon local market factors and the candidate's qualifications. The total compensation package may also include additional elements such as annual cash incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
