UNC Health Care, a leading healthcare organization, is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant II - Patient Care Specialist to join our team. This role plays a vital part in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting the professional caregivers in providing top-notch services.
Salary
We offer a competitive salary of $18.32 per hour, with a hiring range of $15.64-$22.48 per hour, based on experience and internal equity.
Job Description
This dynamic role involves assisting physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as transporting patients and equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and performing various clerical tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with procurement of equipment and supplies
- Critically review patient care documentation and report significant changes to registered nurses or physicians
- Perform a wide range of clerical tasks, including organizing workload, greeting visitors, researching information, reviewing orders, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining medical records
- Provide direct personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation, measuring vital signs, and recording patient height and weight
- May be responsible for specimen collection, skin preps/scrubs, catheter care, capillary blood glucose checks, simple wound care, range of motion exercises, and/or postural drainage
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
- Listed as a Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) certification
- Must be fluent in verbal and written English language
