Job Title: Community ASL Services Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Learning Center for the Deaf is seeking a highly skilled Community ASL Services Coordinator to join our team. This role will be responsible for coordinating, evaluating, and teaching ASL classes for our community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in American Sign Language and Deaf Education, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage class instructors and their assignments using our scheduling platform.
  • Work closely with the TLC Advancement Office to meet marketing and communications needs.
  • Provide assessments, ratings, and observations for community members, families, and staff, identifying support ASL needs and requests.
  • Collaborate with the Equity and Inclusion Office to coordinate screening, mentoring, tutoring, internship, and additional support to improve language use.
  • Participate in collaborative initiatives to enhance language development and training within TLC and through external partnerships.
  • Teach ASL classes at least 50% of scheduled hours.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Department Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Five years of experience teaching ASL or a bachelor's degree in American Sign Language, Deaf Education, ASL Linguistics, or related field.
  • Native or near-native fluency in American Sign Language required.
  • Possess, or be willing to obtain within one year, a score of Superior or Superior Plus on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) or a score of ASLPI 4 or above on the American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI).
  • Documented formal training in using Sign Naturally or True+Way ASL Curriculum, or demonstrated ability to teach ASL using the curriculum.
  • Strong computer and office skills, with proficiency in G Suite/Google.
  • Proficiency in written English skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to effectively handle multiple projects.

Salary: $35.00 hourly.
