The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President of Development to join our team. As a key member of our Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive plan to meet and exceed a $6 million budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and drive a multi-channel income development program to achieve aggressive organizational growth in income, connections, and awareness.
- Solidify a foundation of major donor cultivation, in support of a multi-level plan to further engage and elevate individual donors.
- Pursue novel and unexplored opportunities for collaboration and income growth.
- Conceptualize and implement a comprehensive and effective direct marketing program utilizing a multi-channel approach.
- Create, oversee, and implement a comprehensive and effective major gifts program.
- Leverage Special Events to increase income, expand corporate relationships, and bridge participants to further engagement.
- Create a high-performing and effective team by coaching, modeling, and inspiring the Development staff to ensure the achievement of fundraising goals.
- Create and maintain a culture of collaboration, respect, and support within the Development Department as well as between departments to foster organizational success.
- Collaborate with the CEO and Senior Management Team to develop and implement MSAA's financial strategy, including developing the annual budget, and providing monthly updates in support of financial reporting and reconciliation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- 7-10 years+ of development leadership experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources).
- Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.
- Professional, collaborative style, with the ability to work independently and as an active team player, engaging productively with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside MSAA.
- Flexible and adaptable style; a resourceful leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and timelines.
- Skilled at leveraging Salesforce and other software in support of Development operations.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit financial reporting and budgeting.
- Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan.
- High energy and passion for MSAA's mission is essential.
