Job Title: Palliative Care Physician

Job Summary:

University Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled Palliative Care Physician to join our team. As a Palliative Care Physician, you will provide comprehensive medical care to patients with serious illnesses, focusing on pain and symptom management, and improving quality of life.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for patients with serious illnesses.
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  • Refer patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as necessary.
  • Train and supervise medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures.
  • Manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function.
  • Direct and coordinate the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • Participate in specified health promotion, education, and/or prevention programs.
  • Maintain department productivity thresholds.
  • Maintain faculty status in good standing with the CWRU SOM (if applicable).
  • Adhere to core physician obligations as outlined in the Physician Policy Manual.

Requirements:

  • Board certification in Pediatrics or a related field.
  • Experience in Palliative Care or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
