About the Role

Maintenance Mechanic is a critical position at International Paper, responsible for ensuring the optimal operating condition of plant equipment and facilities. This role involves a variety of activities, including scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels.
  • Perform emergency and breakdown maintenance as necessary to support plant operations.
  • Reference equipment manuals and other technical literature to ensure accurate and efficient maintenance.
  • Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to achieve desired results.
  • Accurately use measurement and test equipment to diagnose and repair equipment issues.
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam system, and other repairs and installations as needed.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, and clean up work areas as part of completing assigned tasks.
  • Accurately and completely prepare and maintain maintenance records and other paperwork.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems in a timely and effective manner.
  • Maintain teamwork with other associates and keep supervision informed of problems and/or unusual situations.
Requirements
  • Ability to perform the duties/responsibilities of the job with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to accurately use and read a variety of measuring devices.
  • Well-rounded electrical, mechanical, and machine shop skills and experience.
  • Ability to learn and follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team.
