Job Summary

We are seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning Innovation at Michigan State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving academic innovation and collaboration across the institution, fostering a culture of excellence in teaching and learning, and advancing the university's strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance teaching and learning, with a focus on innovation, collaboration, and student success.
  • Lead a team of professionals in the development and implementation of academic programs, initiatives, and services that support teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to identify and develop opportunities for academic innovation and collaboration.
  • Provide leadership and support for the development of operational functions necessary to succeed in the adult-learning market, including enrollment management, learner support, and marketing.
  • Oversee the evaluation and assessment of academic innovations and new initiatives to ensure their effectiveness and impact.
Requirements
  • Doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution.
  • Record of scholarship in pedagogy, including experience in curriculum and assessment design, educator development, and program planning and implementation.
  • Experience in teaching and learning, with a focus on innovation, collaboration, and student success.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive environment, with a commitment to advancing the university's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education administration, with a focus on teaching and learning, academic innovation, and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of a major research or land-grant university, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex organizational environment.
  • Ability to convene and foster collaboration among colleagues representing different viewpoints, interests, positions, and locations across a major research university.
  • Experience successfully leading, coordinating, and supervising the work of a diverse team.
