Role Summary

As an Intravenous Compounding Specialist at AmeriPharma, your primary responsibility will be to prepare and compound intravenous medications under the guidance of an infusion pharmacist, ensuring the precise and safe preparation of IV medications for patients.

Work Schedule

  • In-Person Position
  • Standard Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Compounding IV Medications: Accurately measure and mix medications, sterile solutions, and additives in accordance with established protocols, while adhering to aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Labeling and Packaging: Ensure proper labeling and packaging of compounded IV medications, including all essential information such as patient name, medication name, dosage, and expiration date.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain inventory levels of IV medications, ensuring accuracy in quantities, lot numbers, and supplies, including ordering and restocking as necessary.
  • Quality Control: Uphold quality control standards to guarantee the accuracy, sterility, and safety of compounded IV medications, which may involve conducting product quality tests and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Assist in maintaining environmental controls and personnel controls, including sterilization of compounding materials and regular cleaning protocols.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all activities related to the compounding and dispensing of IV medications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor, including cross-training in various areas.
  • Prescription Management: Accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacy's computer system, ensuring all data is correctly documented.
  • Scheduling: Efficiently manage patient refill schedules to ensure continuous care.

Education and Experience

  • Valid Pharmacy Technician License required.
