Position Overview: As a Residential Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing care and assistance to adults with disabilities or mental health challenges within a group home setting. Your primary objective will be to deliver high-quality services that empower individuals to achieve greater independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engage with individuals supported by the agency, fostering a supportive and empathetic environment.
  2. Assist in transportation for community outings, medical appointments, and other necessary activities.
  3. Collaborate with individuals to help them reach their personal goals as outlined in their Individual Support Plans.
  4. Maintain familiarity with the Employee Handbook, ensuring adherence to personnel policies and procedures.
  5. Document services provided through detailed progress notes, capturing observations, participation, and any relevant behavioral changes.
  6. Comply with company policies regarding the supervision and safety of individuals supported.
  7. Submit all required documentation promptly, adhering to deadlines set by your Supervisor.
  8. Participate in ongoing training to stay current with agency requirements and individual needs.
  9. Attend mandatory staff meetings and consumer conferences, providing advance notice if unable to attend.
  10. Receive regular supervision from Qualified Professionals to ensure quality of care and compliance with regulations.
  11. Report any changes in the condition or needs of individuals to your Supervisor.
  12. Address any allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation, ensuring proper reporting and investigation.
  13. Perform additional duties as necessary to support the needs of the individuals served.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 25 years old.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions effectively.
  • No substantiated findings on the NC Health Care Abuse Registry.
  • Valid driver's license and a minimum of three years of driving experience.
  • Must possess acceptable automobile liability insurance.
  • Experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Willingness to complete all required training as assigned.
  • Access to a device with an internet connection during service delivery.
