Job Summary

JT4 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator to join their team at Edwards Air Force Base in California. This is an onsite opportunity that requires a strong background in computer systems administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate system specifications, install enterprise computer systems, configure systems, establish standards, ensure hardware/software compatibility, and maintain workstations and server systems focusing on the Operating system and the network.
  • Perform daily operational support on the computer Operating System to include system security, access, configuration, backups, and restores.
  • Specify network requirements, monitor LAN performance, troubleshoot networking hardware, and ensure the system is working properly according to specifications and parameters.
  • Organize and secure directory structure and assist/train staff members in the use of department Document Management Systems, associated databases, and CM/DM release procedures.
  • Maintain and design functional, visually aesthetic web pages.
  • Specify hardware requirements and provide Computer Authorization and custodial receipt listings to track equipment configurations and identification logs.
  • Serve as POC for problem reporting, incremental version updates, and monitor yearly support contracts.
  • Make recommendations for future hardware/software implementations and related process improvements, schedule, plan, and perform system upgrades, including the transition from design, test, production, and documentation environments.
  • Provide operational status as required.
  • Use established policies and procedures and subject matter knowledge to complete complex assignments requiring originality and ingenuity performed under minimum supervision with considerable latitude for independent contribution.
  • Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems.
  • Manage and administer storage solutions, including NAS and SAN systems.
  • Implement and enforce new and update existing network system administration policies.
  • Operate, maintain, and administer real-time flight-testing systems in the Ridley Mission Control Center (RMCC).
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance procedures on all necessary equipment.
  • Identify network and system administration weaknesses and problem areas and provide recommendations for corrective actions, must have the knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot data and telecommunication networks and equipment.
  • Operate test equipment, including oscilloscope, Fire BERT 6000, and Telemetry Processing systems.
  • Operate and configure type one IP-based decrypters.
  • Work with and provide customer service to a variety of customers.
  • Perform various tasks regarding Media Management to ensure customer requests are fulfilled, inventory is tracked, and documentation is accurate.
  • Perform maintenance, configuration, and administration functions on all required support systems.
  • Develop, modify, and review Operating Instructions for general network and system administration tasks within the work center as a SME.
  • Act as lead system administrator in the performance of computer and network administration in accordance with documented security directives and requirements.
  • Assist in the creation of documentation related to system creation/modifications to include Operating Instructions (OIs).
