Job Summary

JT4 is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to join their team at Edwards Air Force Base in California. This is an onsite opportunity that requires a strong background in computer systems, network administration, and cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate system specifications, install enterprise computer systems, configure systems, and maintain workstations and server systems.
  • Perform daily operational support on computer Operating Systems, including system security, access, configuration, backups, and restores.
  • Specify network requirements, monitor LAN performance, troubleshoot networking hardware, and ensure system functionality according to specifications and parameters.
  • Organize and secure directory structures, assist/train staff members in department Document Management Systems, associated databases, and CM/DM release procedures.
  • Maintain and design functional, visually appealing web pages.
  • Specify hardware requirements, provide Computer Authorization and custodial receipt listings to track equipment configurations and identification logs.
  • Serve as the point of contact for problem reporting, incremental version updates, and monitor yearly support contracts.
  • Make recommendations for future hardware/software implementations and related process improvements, schedule, plan, and perform system upgrades.
  • Provide operational status as required.
  • Use established policies and procedures and subject matter knowledge to complete complex assignments requiring originality and ingenuity performed under minimum supervision with considerable latitude for independent contribution.
  • Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems.
  • Manage and administer storage solutions, including NAS and SAN systems.
  • Implement and enforce new and update existing network system administration policies.
  • Operate, maintain, and administer real-time flight-testing systems in the Ridley Mission Control Center (RMCC).
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance procedures on all necessary equipment.
  • Identify network and system administration weaknesses and problem areas and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Operate test equipment, including oscilloscope, Fire BERT 6000, and Telemetry Processing systems.
  • Operate and configure type one IP-based decrypters.
  • Work with and provide customer service to a variety of customers.
  • Perform various tasks regarding Media Management to ensure customer requests are fulfilled, inventory is tracked, and documentation is accurate.
  • Perform maintenance, configuration, and administration functions on all required support systems.
  • Develop, modify, and review Operating Instructions for general network and system administration tasks within the work center as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Act as lead system administrator in the performance of computer and network administration in accordance with documented security directives and requirements.
  • Assist in the creation of documentation related to system creation/modifications, including Operating Instructions (OIs).
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline from an accredited academic institution or equivalent experience through technical training, completion of a recognized certification program, or experience.
  • At least 6 years of experience in computer system-related areas of expertise.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience with Windows Operating Systems, including any version of Server, Linux Operating Systems.
  • Virtual server experience.
  • Familiarity with basic script/program languages (Python, C++, SQL, C#, Java, etc.).
  • Network background.
  • Experience/familiarity with the components of a computer system (PSU, CPU, motherboard, etc.).
  • Must possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in computer science, graphics, and information systems.
  • Must have specific experience in the maintenance of Operating Systems and support applications, in a centralized and distributed server environment.
  • Must be able to obtain a CompTIA Security+ certification within the first six months of the hire date or possess a current CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be willing to work nonstandard hours, which may include nights and weekends.
  • Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a cross-utilized environment that supports real-time operations.
  • Active DoD secret security clearance or higher.
  • Experience with, and knowledge of, Dept of Defense protocols and policies.
  • Current CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written.
  • This job is performed at the RMCC, in a real-time mission support environment. Demonstration of a successful adaptation to a similarly demanding environment.
Salary and Benefits

The expected salary for this position is $110K annually.
