Field Engineer Position Overview: The Field Engineer role is integral to the field operations team, focusing on the acquisition, assessment, and coordination of all necessary information to execute the project in alignment with contract specifications. This position ensures adherence to safety protocols, compliance with timelines, and the highest quality standards in construction. The Field Engineer is dedicated to safeguarding and advancing the interests of Turner Construction in all aspects of the project.

Reports To: Project Superintendent or Superintendents

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct line and grade assessments for building layout and control as needed.
  • Support the implementation of site safety initiatives and ensure subcontractor adherence to safety standards and regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining contract documents and electronic records for field operations.
  • Help prepare Daily Construction Reports (DCR's).
  • Review ongoing work to ensure accuracy within accepted tolerances.
  • Examine contract drawings, specifications, and shop drawings for proper coordination and installation.
  • Assist in the creation of project as-builts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Engineering Assistant Position Overview: This role involves supporting engineering and administrative functions within the Special Projects Division (SPD) or other departments.

Reports to: Project Engineer or Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in gathering and reviewing information and approvals for processing shop drawings, product data, and samples, facilitating communication across all project team levels.
  • Help manage communication aspects, including submissions and responses for Requests for Information (RFI's).
  • Support the preparation of estimates for work changes, including reviewing Change Order requests from subcontractors.
  • Study contract drawings, specifications, and shop drawings for proper coordination and installation.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating contract documents, electronic records, and project logs.
  • Distribute necessary construction information to relevant parties.
  • Support engineering efforts to ensure timely release of materials and equipment for fabrication or manufacture to meet construction schedules.
  • Assist in preparing final project records, including close-out documents and Operations/Maintenance (OM) Manuals.
  • Perform other assigned activities and responsibilities.
Qualifications for Field Engineer:
  • Completion of two years of college education from an accredited program in Engineering, Construction, or a related field. Relevant experience in building construction or engineering is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, eagerness to learn, and effective verbal and written communication abilities are essential.
  • A foundational understanding of scheduling programs is advantageous.
Physical Demands: The physical requirements outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Qualifications for Engineering Assistant:
  • Completion of two years of college education from an accredited program in Engineering, Construction, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in building construction or engineering is preferred.
  • Familiarity with general contract documents, drawings, and specifications is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, along with effective communication abilities, are essential.
  • Proficiency in computer applications necessary for job responsibilities is required.
