Role Summary
The Portfolio Manager/Healthcare Underwriter position is a vital component of our Credit Administration team, playing a crucial role in the success of various business lines. This role is responsible for overseeing the underwriting process for all credit requests, collaborating closely with Analysts, Associates, and Relationship Managers to assess potential risks and identify opportunities for cross-selling.
The Portfolio Manager/Healthcare Underwriter is tasked with optimizing portfolio performance and is expected to lead transactions from inception to closure with minimal oversight. Key responsibilities include monitoring portfolio quality against established benchmarks and recommending necessary adjustments to existing credit facilities.
Key Responsibilities
To excel in this role, candidates must efficiently process substantial amounts of information, communicate clearly, and devise innovative solutions for our clients while maintaining meticulous attention to detail. Key responsibilities encompass:
- Overseeing credit-related tasks for Analysts and Associates, including financial statement analysis and validation of underwriting models.
- Conducting risk rating assessments and periodic relationship evaluations.
- Collaborating with Relationship Managers on credit agreement reviews and negotiations.
- Managing all credit approvals, including new clients, modifications, renewals, and risk assessments.
- Identifying key risks and issues related to each credit request, along with potential mitigants.
- Managing policy exceptions.
- Directing and conducting portfolio reviews.
- Ensuring compliance with covenants and managing covenant obligations.
- Handling post-approval modifications to guarantee accurate credit exposure reporting.
- Engaging in client management, addressing day-to-day needs, and conducting meetings and site visits.
- Utilizing SalesForce for client management.
- Performing in-depth analysis of macroeconomic conditions, industry trends, and lending practices.
- Overseeing portfolio reporting and analytics, including grade migration, past dues, exceptions, and upcoming maturities.
- Identifying cross-selling opportunities.
- Collaborating with the Special Assets Group for credit requests as necessary.
- Leading and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing the delivery of credit solutions for clients and prospects.
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commercial Banking, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Healthcare Asset-Based Lending with formal credit training.
- Experience in evaluating healthcare field examinations and integrating findings into asset-based loan reviews.
- Exceptional writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- A high level of motivation and initiative.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and build relationships across the organization.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proven leadership abilities and community engagement.
