Maxar Technologies is in search of a Lead Enterprise Systems Engineer to become a vital member of our Sensor Programs division. This role is essential for advancing our current geospatial processing initiatives while fostering growth in the burgeoning market for Earth Observation (EO) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) applications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong reputation among key clients, including the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), Space Development Agency (SDA), and the United States Space Force (USSF), and will be recognized as a trusted resource within the industry.

Our Sensor Programs team engages in collaborative development projects with colleagues across various Maxar locations and frequently partners with other organizations that share our dedication to supporting our clients and their missions. We focus on creating specialized, innovative sources of geospatial data, analytical methodologies, software solutions, and engineering services. Our contributions significantly enhance how clients conduct global mapping and intelligence operations at scale, unveiling unique insights and information. We play a crucial role in integrated space solutions by leveraging and applying cutting-edge technologies.

The position offers flexibility in location; however, the candidate must be prepared to operate in secure environments for technical engagements, client meetings, and development activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical direction across various programs, pursuits, and proposals.
  • Offer engineering support for large-scale enterprise programs, encompassing all phases of ground system development from mission analysis to verification and validation of system performance.
  • Collaborate with program and portfolio leadership, business development, strategy leadership, and other technical team members to define growth strategies based on customer insights.
  • Engage directly with Maxar's clients and facilitate leadership interactions as appropriate.
  • Recommend and assist in formulating the business case for Maxar investments (IR&D, Sell, B&P) as necessary.
  • Generate innovative ideas for new Maxar opportunities (whitepapers, etc.).
  • Mentor and develop technical staff to help them reach their full professional potential.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience in geospatial processing and imaging systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of current EO, OPIR, SAR, and other imaging systems, related ground architectures, and existing prime contractors.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude to inspire internal stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with a cross-functional team and serve as a customer interface.
  • Capability to capture customer research and development (CRAD) efforts to prototype and demonstrate new analytical technologies.
  • Experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE), integration and testing, system sell-off, and delivery of high-volume ground operations systems.
  • Experience working on an Agile team and executing according to SAFe principles.
