**Role Summary**:

We are in search of a Lead Systems Engineer to oversee systems engineering initiatives across diverse internal and client-focused projects. This role encompasses the analysis of customer requirements, the formulation of operational concepts, and the creation of comprehensive trade studies. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the development and clarification of requirements and interface specifications, while engaging in various systems engineering tasks within a collaborative and dynamic environment. Additionally, this individual may mentor junior systems engineers throughout project assignments.

**Key Responsibilities**:

As a Lead Systems Engineer, your primary duties will include:
  1. Employing a multidisciplinary approach to plan, design, develop, and validate integrated system solutions that meet lifecycle requirements.
  2. Assessing customer and operational needs to establish system performance criteria and ensuring the integration of technical parameters.
  3. Conducting analyses to enhance the overall system architecture and optimize performance.
  4. Incorporating considerations for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, and other critical quality factors into system configurations.
  5. Facilitating the planning, organization, and execution of requirements management processes, including risk and opportunity assessments.
  6. Collaborating with software, firmware, and hardware teams to define and advance both internal and client-specific projects.
  7. Guiding the efforts of junior systems engineers and supporting their professional development.
  8. Performing needs assessments and developing detailed requirements documentation.
  9. Creating and refining trade studies to evaluate design alternatives.
  10. Analyzing cost-benefit trade-offs and contributing to systems engineering project planning.
  11. Establishing performance requirements and constraints, along with measures of effectiveness.
  12. Working with engineering teams to address and resolve systems-level challenges.
  13. Defining system-level interfaces and conducting functional decomposition.
  14. Designing and executing tests to validate the functionality of components (software, hardware, firmware).
  15. Conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies.
  16. Recommending enhancements for usability and product performance.
  17. Utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools in accordance with company standards.
  18. Collaborating with stakeholders and senior engineers to refine technical strategies and requirements.
  19. Assisting in the preparation and distribution of production and client documentation.

**Qualifications**:

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  2. Experience in a senior systems engineering capacity on significant projects.
  3. A minimum of five years of direct experience in systems engineering, including internships.
  4. Strong technical writing capabilities.
  5. Familiarity with formal systems engineering methodologies.
  6. Experience with systems engineering frameworks such as DoDAF, UAF, or NASA.
  7. Proficiency in MBSE tools like Cameo or CORA.
  8. Knowledge of formal systems engineering standards (INCOSE, IEEE, DoD, NASA, etc.).
  9. Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, or maritime technologies is highly desirable.
