Job Title: Psychiatric Technician

Matrix Providers is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Technician to join our team at the Navy Medicine Readiness & Training Command New England, Newport, RI. As a Psychiatric Technician, you will play a vital role in providing health care services to our Military Service Members and their families.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual to work in our Outpatient Behavioral Health clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing patient care and management, including monitoring, escorting, and participating in patient activities. You will also be responsible for providing care for patients utilizing infection control and safety techniques, documenting findings promptly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and escort patients in psychiatric clinics and programs
  • Provide care for patients utilizing infection control and safety techniques, documenting findings promptly
  • Utilize therapeutic assessment and interview skills to assess patient conditions and document care accurately
  • Exercise sound judgment and crisis intervention skills to manage potentially harmful situations, following clinic-specific policies
  • Screen patients to determine presenting problems and priority of appointment, performing basic assessments and assisting with treatment strategies
  • Assist in specialized treatment and rehabilitation, conducting individual and group therapy sessions
  • Conduct health and wellness programs, coordinating care with other agencies and facilities
Requirements:
  • Degree: Certificate
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program; or completion of equivalent education and experience that meets the requirement of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians or completion of education and experience as a behavioral science specialist/technician in the United States military and proof of having completed an Armed Forces course involving a psychiatric technician training or civilian course from an accredited school in the care of behavioral health patients
  • Experience: One year (1) of experience as a Psychiatric Technician after graduation
