Mechanical Engineer I

Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer I to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. This position will support the Sport Boat Engineering staff and develop new projects per the concept request of the Sport Boat Product Management team. The successful candidate will assist in the design and development of Yamaha Sport Boats, encompassing the design, development, documentation, and release of new products to production.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop new parts and assemblies, including creation of 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs.
- Collaborate with suppliers to provide necessary design information and ensure production of quality products per industry compliance and Yamaha standards.
- Source or fabricate prototypes and pre-production components for testing and evaluation.
- Coordinate and plan laboratory and ride testing applicable to the parts and systems being developed, analyze, interpret, and summarize test results to determine necessary design changes or optimizations.
- Assist in analysis and validation of parts and subassemblies designed by other engineers.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- 0-3 years' experience in design engineering, product development, or similar.
- Experience in machining, casting, and molded parts (plastic).
- 3D modeling experience required.
- Strong hands-on shop and fabrication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Good engineering judgment and analysis.
- Ability to travel to factory, suppliers, and various testing/research locations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize changing workloads.
- Ability to work on, in, and around the water.
- Ability to safely operate road and water vehicles (trucks, PWCs, boats).
- Ability to attend online meetings outside of normal working hours.
- Knowledge of plastic, metal, and composite materials.
- Knowledge and experience in design of durable goods.
