Job Summary

The UGE Skilled Laborer/Groundman is a vital member of our team at MasTec Utility Services, responsible for supporting the crew in the installation and repair of underground power lines. Responsibilities
  • Prepare the construction site for work, removing debris and potential hazards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Gather materials and equipment needed to complete daily tasks, ensuring the crew has everything required to complete the job efficiently.
  • Assist skilled tradesmen in completing their tasks, providing support and expertise as needed.
  • Operate construction and jobsite equipment safely, including rubber-tired backhoes, skid steer loaders, directional drills, trenchers, and mini excavators.
  • Restock trucks with supplies, ensuring crews have the necessary tools and materials to complete the job.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in utilities or construction.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 or more years of experience in utilities or construction.
  • CDL Class A driver's license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role operates in a field environment, requiring extended periods of physical activity, including bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and standing. The ability to work in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind, is also essential.

The physical demands of this role require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, and the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors are also necessary.
