Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Identity Specialist to join our team at Bexar County, TX. As a key member of our Information Technology department, you will be responsible for supporting our team and ensuring the successful delivery of IT services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the deployment and administration of infrastructure security policies and procedures within multiple environments.
  • Administer user identity roles, groups, and permissions across the network, with a focus on Active Directory.
  • Deploy and administer security appliances and tools within hybrid on-premise data centers and Azure cloud environments.
  • Support core identity systems, including Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and Active Directory Federated Services.
  • Develop and maintain Active Directory Group Policy (AD) rules and assignments.
  • Act as a Domain Administrator/Tier Zero level authority of the security framework.
  • Establish Standard Operating Procedures for administration of AD accounts and related permissions.
  • Troubleshoot identified security incidents originating from the Information Security Team.
  • Coordinate prioritized access and security incidents requiring remediation and/or mitigation tasks.
  • Respond to alert monitoring tools for prompt resolution of identified threats relative to user access.
  • Collaborate with application owners to determine how identity management can be streamlined and integrated into source systems.
  • Delegate security and access-related requests to team members as required.
  • Provide audit reports from infrastructure systems as requested from Information Security.
  • Validate hardware and software audits, provided by Information Security, of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Coach and mentor supervised team members.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a relevant degree in Information Technology, with a focus on access and identity security.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in access and identity security.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Products, including Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Azure Government Cloud Services, and Government Security Standards.
  • Expert skill in problem-solving, IT Management frameworks, and scripting and automation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner across functional and technical departments.
  • Demonstrates technological intuitiveness.
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.
  • Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test.
  • Required to travel to remote sites within Bexar County.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance, and personal injury insurance.
  • Must have available transportation during the entire workday.
  • Required to be on call 24 hours.
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek.
  • May be required to work weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced education or work experience in specific enterprise security fields.
  • Experience with Cisco network route/switch security and Palo Alto Firewall.
  • Experience with Security within cloud services such as Microsoft Azure Government.
  • Certified or licensed in SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner), SANS based security education course completion with certification, CompTIA Server+, CompTIA A+, MCSE, or other equivalent certifications.
Work Environment and Physical Demand

Constantly working in indoor/telework conditions. Frequently moves items weighing up to 10-15 pounds. Occasionally moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally moves about the office/telework office. Frequently communicates with others using approved technological resources. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery. Positions self to perform essential functions of the job in an office/telework environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position. Flexibility to achieve performance excellence in a telework arrangement. Maintains County-issued equipment, software, data, and supplies.
