Job Overview

Catholic Charities is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team. This role involves working with clients who are struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues, providing them with support and guidance as they navigate the recovery process.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary of $45,000-$60,000 per year, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have certification as a peer recovery specialist, recovery from mental health and/or substance abuse diagnosis for a minimum period of one year, and willingness to establish supportive and respectful rapport with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to clients who are struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues.
  • Work with clients to develop personalized recovery plans that address their unique needs and goals.
  • Facilitate peer recovery groups and provide outreach services to engage clients in aftercare programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress towards recovery goals.
Requirements
  • Certification as a peer recovery specialist.
  • Recovery from mental health and/or substance abuse diagnosis for a minimum period of one year.
  • Willingness to establish supportive and respectful rapport with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team setting and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft environment, notably Word, Excel and Outlook.
