Position Overview:

The ADON plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of patient care while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices concerning sanitation, infection control, and patient confidentiality. This is achieved through consistent engagement with staff, ongoing education, and hands-on support in patient care activities. The ADON will collaborate closely with the Director of Nursing to evaluate, design, and execute nursing initiatives aimed at enhancing staff development and optimizing patient experiences.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be graduates of an accredited RN program, with a BSN preferred.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Understanding of nursing principles, practices, and protocols.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and payer regulations concerning nursing, including patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Proficient in medical terminology.
  • Awareness of quality assurance, risk management, and performance improvement standards.
Skills:
  • Expertise in time management and task prioritization.

  • Adept at utilizing computerized systems for data analysis and recommendations.
  • Experience in budget development and cost-effective nursing practices.
Abilities:

Experience:

Licenses/Certifications: Valid RN license in West Virginia; Current BLS certification.

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Director of Nursing and supervises Pod Leaders/Charge Nurses.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in strategic planning, budgeting, and policy development related to nursing operations.
  • Communicate and enforce compliance with nursing policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with all departments to ensure seamless patient service delivery.
  • Maintain a focus on patient safety and minimize the risk of medical errors.
  • Ensure staff training in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement standards.
  • Monitor nursing practices concerning fiscal responsibilities, including supply management and overtime.
  • Work with human resources to recruit and train new nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and community agencies to enhance nursing service quality.
  • Engage in clinic-wide performance improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in meetings to foster positive changes within the clinic.
  • Stay updated on relevant regulations and standards in nursing.
  • Oversee infection control practices and staff compliance.
  • Provide regular educational sessions for staff.
  • Evaluate workflows through hands-on involvement in various areas.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
