Patient Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Associate to join our team at Spaulding Hospital - Boston and Cambridge. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Assist registered nurses in providing clinical support functions to promote a safe and compassionate patient care environment.
- Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, as per established guidelines.
- Monitor patient vital signs and blood glucose levels, and perform other patient monitoring activities as required.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Perform patient rounds regularly and respond promptly to call lights to meet patients' needs.
- Document patient care in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to established standards.
- Organize patient rooms to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Collect and label specimens as per established procedures.
- Provide mentoring and teaching to new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; nursing assistant certification preferred.
- Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
- Enrollment in a nursing, pre-med, or physician assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations, or possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment in a nursing assistant, medical assistant, mental health technician, or EMT-accredited program.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Basic skills in math and computer science.
- Ability to perform, modify, and record physical therapy skills with relevance to appropriate thoroughness and sequencing.
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
- Knowledge of DPH/OEMS regulations.
This role requires working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with frequent standing, walking, and lifting of up to 50 pounds. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
