Healthcare Billing Specialist
We are looking for skilled and committed Healthcare Billing Specialists to become part of our organization. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to identify solutions to challenges and keep management updated on trends related to billing discrepancies, compliance matters, payments, and other issues with specific payers. Your daily responsibilities will encompass managing billing software, appealing denied claims, and documenting late payments.
You should have comprehensive knowledge of billing software and medical insurance policies. The perfect candidate must also exhibit exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as interaction with clients and various insurance representatives will constitute a significant portion of the role. Attention to detail is crucial.

Healthcare Billing Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily downloads and reconciliations of claims from the patient accounting system to the electronic billing system.
  • Transmit or release claims at least once daily.
  • Address all assigned claims daily by resolving discrepancies, validating claims, or placing them on departmental hold for specific reasons.
  • Ensure that the patient's medical information is accurate and current.
  • Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance providers.
  • Generate bills and invoices, documenting amounts owed for medical services and procedures.
  • Review same-day and 72-hour admission reports to determine if accounts should be consolidated.
  • Manage all rejection and payer audit reports within 48 hours of receipt, taking necessary actions to achieve account resolution.
  • Bill or re-bill as required.
  • Accurately document in the electronic billing system and/or patient accounting system.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding billing and HIPAA.
  • Complete assigned special projects within designated time frames.
  • Handle all customer inquiries, both internal and external, in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
  • Participate in training sessions.
Healthcare Billing Specialist Requirements:
  • Associate degree in business, healthcare administration, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Medical billing and coding certifications are preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or a similar capacity.
  • Strong understanding of billing software and electronic medical records.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
