Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the pharmacy team in the preparation and dispensing of medications, as well as providing exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications.
  • Apply departmental processes regarding inventory control.
  • Perform activities as directed by pharmacists and/or pharmacy managers in accordance with federal, state, and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Operate computer systems and utilize technology.
Technical Capabilities
  • Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Novice):
    • Demonstrate working knowledge of the appropriate rules and regulations as they apply to the department and work areas.
    • Maintain current understanding of rules and regulations and facilitate processes that support the application of various rules and regulations.
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Novice):
    • Possess sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully review, prepare, dispense, and distribute prescribed medications.
  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Fundamental Awareness):
    • Has demonstrated a basic understanding of computers or has successfully completed training for applications that are used to support medication use processes.
  • Drug Inventory & Records Management (Novice):
    • Possess fundamental proficiency working with drug inventory and records management.
    • Demonstrate ability to maintain appropriate inventory levels of medications.
    • Able to collect, organize, and/or maintain evaluations of pharmacy or patient-related information.
