Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the ongoing duties and responsibilities of our pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications.
  • Apply departmental processes regarding inventory control.
  • Perform activities as directed by pharmacists and/or pharmacy managers in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Operate computer systems and utilize technology.
Technical Capabilities
  • Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance: Demonstrates working knowledge of rules and regulations as they apply to the department and work areas.
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution: Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully review, prepare, dispense, and distribute prescribed medications.
  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy: Has demonstrated a basic understanding of computers or has successfully completed training for applications that are used to support medication use processes.
  • Drug Inventory & Records Management: Possesses fundamental proficiency working with drug inventory and records management.

  • Performs tasks that are typically routine that may impact team's performance with occasional guidance.
  • Utilizes some discretion and research to solve routine problems.
  • Applies knowledge of standards, established processes, and procedures that apply to your own job.

  • Certifications: LIC-Pharmacy Technician - Tennessee
  • Work Experience: Less than 1 year
  • Education: Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program
