Our team is compact, consisting of a head PM, an assistant PM, one investment associate, and several analysts.

Position Summary

This is a full-time, on-site opportunity for an Investment Analyst at Hovde Capital Advisors in Madison, WI. In this capacity, analysts will be tasked with originating unique investment ideas, conducting thorough fundamental research, establishing price targets, and identifying pivotal investment themes across various industries. The Investment Analyst will also oversee news flow management, including macroeconomic and industry/company-specific updates on assigned coverage, monitor trading activities, execute trades, and report on quarterly earnings for their designated coverage.

Generating investment ideas will involve screening, performing financial analyses, creating financial models, conducting industry and market research, and engaging in discussions with management teams, investor relations, and industry participants.

We prefer candidates currently residing in the Midwest region of the U.S. for potential relocation. This is a full-time, in-office role.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Foundational knowledge of equities fundamental investment research processes
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP accounting principles and three-statement financial models
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling tools
  • Familiarity with S&P Capital IQ, Factset, Bloomberg, or other equity-oriented data platforms
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, physics, history, philosophy, or related fields
  • Genuine interest in public equities market investing
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to assimilate and distill large volumes of information, deriving insights from diverse sources, including research reports, macroeconomic news, industry updates, daily news publications, and company press releases.
