Cardiologist Job Summary

ChenMed is seeking a highly skilled Cardiologist to join our team. As a Cardiologist, you will play a key role in providing direct patient care and assessments in our ambulatory healthcare center setting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiology, excellent clinical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You will be responsible for diagnosing and treating various cardiovascular ailments, conducting physical exams, and developing plans of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care, including care coordination and echocardiogram reading.
  • Lead a cardiovascular care team, including Care Promoters, Echocardiogram/X-ray Technicians, and mid-level providers.
  • Assist the Medical Director, Cardiology in managing day-to-day clinical and business operations.
  • Consult with the Medical Director, Cardiology to ensure compliance with guidelines and participate in risk and quality management programs.
  • Manage the care of chronic cardiovascular diseases, including examining patients and running or ordering tests to determine chief complaints.
  • Assess patient's ability to withstand the stresses of cardiovascular or other surgeries and help surgeons or invasive cardiologists in managing strategy for patient.
  • Run and accurately read EKG, chest X-rays, and echoes, including ability to know which blood tests to order to check for certain types of heart diseases.
  • Prescribe medication and treatment in accordance with patient condition, payer coverage/guidelines, and industry standards.
  • Review PCP requests for external cardiology referrals and participate in delegated utilization authorizations.

Requirements:

  • MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or similar specialty required.
  • Board certification in Cardiology required, but may have other sub-specialty training and board certification as well.
  • Current, unrestricted, and active license to practice medicine in state of employment required.
  • Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration required.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Cardiologist required.
  • Prior experience working with interdisciplinary teams in quality improvement and/or medical/healthcare leadership activities preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required within first 90 days of employment.
