Job Summary:

As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will assist our physicians with patient care and minor procedures. You will be responsible for performing vision and ocular tests, documenting exam details, and ensuring patient understanding of instructions. Additionally, you will precept and train fellow technicians, prepare treatment rooms, and maintain inventory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet and greet patients, providing a warm and welcoming experience.
  • Assist physicians with patient care and minor procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • Perform vision and ocular tests, explaining procedures to patients and documenting results.
  • Document exam details and physician findings in the electronic chart, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Ensure patient understanding of instructions, providing clear and concise information.
  • Precept and train fellow technicians, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and growth.
  • Prepare, maintain, and clean treatment rooms and ophthalmic instruments, adhering to high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, ensuring prompt resolution and minimizing downtime.
  • Perform ancillary testing and document results, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of patient needs.
  • Administer medications according to compliance standards, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
  • Maintain inventory and assist with equipment upkeep, ensuring a well-stocked and functional environment.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills, with a strong focus on communication and interpersonal relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong customer service skills, with a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and satisfaction.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and rotating shifts.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or one (1) year of specialized ophthalmic experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred or enrolled within twelve (12) months of hire and completion within two (2) years of hire.
  • Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) required or completion within 45 days of hire.
