Position Summary

The Family Worker plays a crucial role in supporting families and children within the community. This position is responsible for a variety of administrative and community engagement tasks aimed at enhancing family dynamics and ensuring the well-being of children.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Duties
  • Adhere to state regulations as mandated by the Department of Children and Families.
  • Prepare and organize spaces for group activities and ensure cleanliness post-events.
  • Conduct intake assessments for new families.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Keep organized files for each family and ensure timely documentation.
  • Complete required monthly reports and documentation as per guidelines.
  • Assist in evaluations for children with special needs.
  • Organize and facilitate Parent Teacher Organization meetings.
  • Engage in fundraising initiatives.
  • Monitor attendance systems and communicate with families regarding discrepancies.
Family and Community Engagement
  • Act as a resource for families and staff.
  • Provide crisis intervention and advocacy services.
  • Schedule and conduct regular meetings with families.
  • Develop and review Family Development Plans annually.
  • Foster positive relationships with families and collaborate with educational staff.
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to complete necessary documentation.
  • Coordinate support services for families.
  • Assist in communication between parents and educators, including translation services.
  • Encourage parental involvement in educational programs.
  • Support children’s independence and development.
  • Implement positive discipline strategies.
  • Assist families with external appointments as necessary.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Ensure confidentiality and respect for family privacy.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents.
  • Encourage regular attendance through consistent communication.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Engage with community partners to support family and child welfare.
Safety and Compliance
  • Follow organizational policies regarding student care and discipline.
  • Manage medical and educational information as required.
  • Administer medications when necessary.
  • Facilitate health service referrals for families.
  • Contribute to a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Understand and implement crisis management protocols.
  • Be responsible for the opening and closing of facilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in early childhood or related services.
  • Experience working with diverse and low-income populations.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are preferred.
