Job Title:

Student Employee-Academic Success Center-Math Tutor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as a mathematics tutor in our Academic Success Center. The successful candidate will provide individual and group tutoring sessions to students in mathematics and STEM subjects, helping them to advance their competencies and achieve academic success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions to students in mathematics and STEM subjects
  • Assist students with study strategies, content review, and home assignments
  • Work towards College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) certification
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student learning and success
Requirements:
  • 3.0 overall GPA
  • Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at SHSU for at least 2 semesters
  • Maintained an A or B average in the course you are applying to tutor for
  • Two recommendation letters from faculty/instructors who can discuss your math skills and your ability to work with students
  • MUST have completed a FAFSA for the current academic term
Target Courses:

MATH 1316, MATH 1324, MATH 1332, MATH 1384/85, MATH 1410, MATH 1420, MATH 1430
