We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mathematics Tutor to join our team at the Academic Success Center. As a Mathematics Tutor, you will play a critical role in supporting students in advancing their competencies in mathematics, ranging from developmental mathematics to calculus 1.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual or group tutoring sessions to students in mathematics, including developmental mathematics and calculus 1
- Assist students with study strategies, content review/interpretation, and home assignments
- Work with students to identify areas of improvement and develop personalized learning plans
- Continuously work toward College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) certification
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure seamless support for students
- 3.0 overall GPA
- Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at SHSU for at least 2 semesters
- Maintained an A or B average in the course you are applying to tutor for
- Two recommendation letters from faculty/instructors who can discuss your math skills and your ability to work with students
- MUST have completed a FAFSA for the current academic term
- Experience working with students in a tutoring or academic support setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
