Sanitation Specialist for Meat Processing

Position Type: Full Time. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is required. The operational hours are Monday to Saturday from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. and Sunday from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Compensation: $12.35 per hour.

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Project Manager, this role involves performing cleaning and sanitation tasks in the meat room and associated areas. It is essential to have knowledge or a willingness to learn proper sanitation techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize fixtures, equipment, and exposed surfaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, ceilings, and light fixtures.
  • Ensure glass and mirrored surfaces, doors, sinks, and tables are sanitized.
  • Clean beneath non-movable structures, drains, grease traps, and floor mats.
  • Sanitize meat rails, traps, pans, racks, knives, saws, and grinders.
  • Remove trash and cardboard from the meat processing area.
  • Empty and clean trim barrels and their storage areas.
  • Assist in moving items to facilitate cleaning and return them post-cleaning.
  • Ensure the meat room is free from any meat particles, grease, or residue.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Effective teamwork and independent work skills.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning products and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) or willingness to learn.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in performance-based cleaning or a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and maneuver 50-pound cases of groceries.
  • Ability to push and pull manual pallet jacks with full pallets.
  • Ability to stand, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders.
  • Ability to maintain continuous walking, standing, bending, or stooping for extended periods.
  • Visual acuity for checking stocking accuracy and appeal.
  • Ability to work in a dusty environment.
