The Charge Nurse oversees daily operational matters within the Pre-Admit, Pre-Op/Hold unit. This role involves coordinating care for individual patients while leading the care delivery for multiple patients in accordance with established nursing policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include monitoring patient flow, managing staff schedules, overseeing departmental budgets, and ensuring adequate unit supplies for the assigned shift. As a frontline nursing leader, the Charge Nurse is accountable for evaluating, developing, and retaining department staff (both licensed and unlicensed). Collaboration with other healthcare professionals and unit leaders is essential to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and to achieve desired patient outcomes.
