Position Summary:The Communications Specialist (CS) is tasked with orchestrating and executing communication initiatives that engage and inspire our faculty, staff, students, and supporters of St. Philip's School & Community Center. The CS serves as the primary contact for all inquiries and will strategically plan, organize, and ensure the timely and effective fulfillment of project requests from various departments within the organization. Furthermore, the CS will participate in a wide array of cross-functional projects in the fields of communications, marketing, and public relations, fostering professional growth within the role. The CS will uphold the organization's voice both internally and externally, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across all communication channels.
Required Qualifications & Skills:- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, critical thinking, and project management capabilities
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Google Suite
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is advantageous
- Familiarity with website content management systems
- Basic photography skills and photo editing knowledge
- Video production and editing experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube)
- Writing samples are required upon submission
- Ensure accurate, timely, and budget-conscious completion of individual project requests from departments or external partners
- Prepare weekly status reports and facilitate weekly meetings
- Write, edit, proofread, format, and schedule communications for publication on internal and external platforms
- Collaborate across departments to create compelling and engaging brand narratives
- Train to become proficient in all communication platforms (e.g., Renweb, Eventbrite, Sign-Up Genius, Constant Contact, Giving Fuel)
- Work with other departments to produce a bi-annual magazine
- Capture photos and videos for both print and digital media
- Assist in gathering content for social media platforms
- Support the Director of Communications in developing and implementing annual communication strategies
- Engage in team brainstorming sessions and creative projects
- Perform additional duties as assigned within the Communications Department
- Coordinate and manage multiple project timelines and task lists to ensure successful completion
- Exhibit self-motivation and problem-solving skills; conduct research and provide findings before seeking guidance
- Demonstrate effective communication skills in verbal, non-verbal, and written forms
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Manage time effectively to meet deadlines
- Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Maintain a high level of detail orientation and strong organizational skills
- Build strong interpersonal relationships to work effectively with various teams, including senior leadership
- Proactively drive projects and initiatives to completion
- Develop impactful brand narratives covering topics related to students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, community engagement, and philanthropy
- Bring creativity to every project, offering innovative and contemporary ideas
- Quickly learn and adapt to various software and platforms, including Intranets, CMS, blogs, and donation sites
