Community Safety Program Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of a designated supervisor or Command staff, the individual will be responsible for the development and coordination of Neighborhood Watch initiatives. This role involves planning, implementing, and promoting program activities through collaboration with community organizations, local businesses, and residents.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Organize and lead Neighborhood Watch meetings, training sessions, and community forums.
2. Maintain comprehensive reports on outreach efforts, progress, and outcomes.
3. Keep an updated database of program participants and prepare informational materials.
4. Assist in creating public information campaigns and disseminate information through various channels.
5. Collaborate with law enforcement personnel to analyze crime statistics and identify community needs.
6. Advise management and community organizations on neighborhood issues and potential solutions.
7. Plan and execute public awareness projects and events to enhance program visibility.
8. Coordinate tours for special event groups at police facilities.
9. Deliver presentations to diverse groups to foster support for the program.
10. Address inquiries from citizens and staff regarding neighborhood concerns.
11. Evaluate program effectiveness and contribute to long-term planning and goal setting.
12. Facilitate networking opportunities with other neighborhood jurisdictions.
13. Attend relevant training seminars to stay updated on crime prevention and community engagement trends.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The majority of duties are performed in an office setting, with potential exposure to various environmental conditions during community events. The role requires travel throughout the city for meetings and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with seven years of experience in coordinating community enhancement programs. A valid driver's license is necessary for continued employment. Candidates must successfully pass a criminal justice employment background check.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
City employees must establish residency within Shelby County within six months of employment. Proof of residency will be required at the time of hire. The City of Memphis is dedicated to providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities in its services and employment.
