Position Overview:
The Cost Estimator plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial aspects of client projects, managing bids from trade partners, and conducting material take-offs from the project's inception to the finalization of construction documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Design:
    Collaborate with the Preconstruction Manager to review the initial project scope and design, identifying any gaps in the scope of work.
  • Detailed Development:
    Gather necessary documents such as blueprints and specifications to prepare comprehensive estimates. This includes analyzing labor, material, and time requirements, and developing requests for quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Bid Execution:
    Ensure accuracy in material lists and vendor quotes, collaborating with the Project Manager and Account Manager to finalize subcontractor information and execute bids.
  • Project Review and Updates:
    Assist the Preconstruction Manager with change order bidding, coordinate site visits, and participate in project meetings to provide updates and insights for future projects.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills, problem-solving capabilities, and a proactive approach to learning and collaboration. They should be able to work independently, demonstrating sound judgment in identifying potential issues and resource needs to maintain project budgets.

Essential Skills:
Proficiency in developing budgets and estimates, effective delegation, process improvement, and strong verbal communication skills are vital for success in this role.

Requirements:
Applicants should have proven experience in developing design bids, excellent communication skills, and solid organizational abilities, with a strong command of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
