Position Summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for planning and coordinating service assignments as directed by the HUB Lead. This role involves the installation, upgrading, and troubleshooting of technical issues, as well as performing scheduled maintenance and calibration services. The technician ensures exceptional service delivery in terms of quality, speed of repair, and professionalism towards clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose technical issues related to heat treatment equipment at client locations.
- Perform service tasks at customer sites, including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repairs, and calibrations.
- Document all service activities and track potential warranty claims.
- Identify and promote opportunities for additional services related to heat treatment equipment.
- Determine necessary materials (tools, consumables, spare parts) for effective service execution.
- Serve as the primary contact for customers with existing service agreements.
- Plan and schedule service assignments in collaboration with the HUB Lead.
- Accurately record work hours and job assignments in the time and attendance system.
- Submit expense reports in a timely manner for review and approval.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and policies established by Ipsen.
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of the heat treatment industry.
- Experience in maintaining heat treatment equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Proficient in basic computer operations (e.g., MS Office, ERP, CRM systems).
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and positively represent Ipsen.
- Skilled in identifying cross-selling opportunities.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Preferred to reside within the assigned HUB location or within a 30-minute drive of a HUB border.
- Valid driver's license and appropriate automobile insurance as per Ipsen's Travel Policy.
- Willingness to travel as required by the job.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in industrial equipment operation and/or maintenance, preferably in the heat treatment sector, or completion of a rigorous industry training program.
- Experience with equipment calibration, pyrometry, vacuum systems, thermal processes, and TUS is advantageous.
