Addiction Counselor/Therapist

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Addiction Counselor/Therapist to join our team at Mass General Brigham. The successful candidate will have a strong background in addiction treatment and recovery, with a focus on working with adolescents and young adults.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to patients with substance use disorder
  • Deliver manualized interventions, including motivational enhancement therapy/cognitive-behavioral therapy (MET/CBT) and Twelve-Step Facilitation (TSF) therapies
  • Work collaboratively with a clinical research team to schedule appointments, document patient progress, and communicate relevant information
  • Participate in weekly supervision with the Principal Investigator and other clinical study staff to review protocol adherence and clinical approach
  • Consult with patients, PI, and study staff to maximize patient engagement and facilitate mandated reports when abuse is suspected
Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in a behavioral health field, including mental health counseling, social work, or equivalent
  • Current license to practice psychotherapy in Massachusetts, including mental health counselor (LMHC), independent clinical social worker (LICSW), or equivalent
  • Current Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) license
  • Experience with evidence-based treatments for adolescents and young adults with substance use disorder and/or other psychiatric disorders
  • Familiarity with community-based 12-step mutual-help groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience delivering manualized therapies, including MET/CBT and TSF
  • Knowledge of and compliance with institutional, JCAHO, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies' standards
