Overview:
The Sample Management Specialist will oversee the processing of incoming samples and support administrative tasks related to Central Sample Repository operations.

Responsibilities:

Key Job Functions:

  • Ensure the integrity of samples by accurately logging and storing Client samples for analysis.
  • Initiate and maintain the Sample Chain of Custody, ensuring all necessary documentation is secured before samples are dispatched to laboratories.
  • Liaise with Project Managers and Clients regarding any missing information or critical observations related to samples that require resolution.
  • Coordinate the shipment of samples in collaboration with the Logistics Department.
  • Maintain precise inventory records of samples within the Central Sample Repository.
  • Manage the disposal of samples in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist in managing departmental communication through the Rees phone.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment while also being capable of working independently as needed.
  • Availability for overtime, including holidays and weekends, may be required.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GXP).
  • Uphold organization and cleanliness within the laboratory setting.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Experience / Education

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent (experience with LIMS systems is preferred).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; a college degree is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Experience operating large passenger vans is advantageous.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and preferably LIMS.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of professional communication.

Physical Requirements:

  • Strong time management, as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Additional Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in an office environment with minimal noise.
  • Capability to work in a laboratory setting with biohazards and various chemicals.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels.
  • Capacity to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to routinely lift 10 lbs.
  • Capability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach.
  • Ability to push or pull 10 lbs. routinely, often, or occasionally.
  • Clear vision and ability to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motion activities.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, or scaffolding.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, from high to freezing.
  • Willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor conditions.
