Responsibilities:

Job Summary:


Under the guidance of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner, the Sleep Study Technologist is responsible for administering sleep lab services.


Essential Functions:


The primary duties include:

  • Connecting and managing sleep lab equipment for patients.
  • Ensuring that all equipment and supplies are adequately stocked and maintained.
  • Providing patient education in outpatient settings as required.

The role requires clinical judgment, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility. Effective communication skills are essential for explaining procedures to patients, their families, and healthcare staff.

The Sleep Study Technologist must demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions within the scope of their responsibilities and adhere to established standards of care.

Collaboration with the Manager of Respiratory Services may be necessary to uphold practice standards.

Knowledge of adult and geriatric patient care is essential, along with an understanding of growth and development principles to assess and interpret patient data accurately.

The individual will report to the Lead Polysomnographer and the Respiratory Manager of Sleep Lab Services, working under supervision at all times.

Effective communication and collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals are vital for patient assessment and care planning.

Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff is a key responsibility, along with ensuring efficient use of sleep lab supplies and resources.

Additional duties may be assigned by management as needed.


Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:
Associate's degree in Polysomnography or equivalent experience in the field.

Required Licensure and Certifications:
Current AHA BLS certification
Current RPSGT certification

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Fundamental knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:
One to two years of relevant experience.
