Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Sleep Lab Technologist operates under the guidance of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner, ensuring the effective delivery of sleep study services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Connect and manage sleep lab equipment for patients, ensuring all tools and supplies are adequately stocked and maintained.
  • Demonstrate clinical judgment, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility in all interactions.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to explain procedures to patients, their families, and healthcare staff.
  • Make informed independent decisions within the scope of practice and collaborate with the Respiratory Services Manager to uphold care standards.
  • Exhibit knowledge and skills necessary for providing care to adult and geriatric patients, including understanding their developmental needs.
  • Report to the Lead Polysomnographer and the Respiratory Manager of Sleep Lab Services, maintaining close supervision at all times.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and other clinical personnel in patient assessments and care planning.
  • Possess a solid understanding of Anatomy and Physiology as it relates to respiratory care and sleep studies.
  • Ensure efficient use of sleep lab resources and maintain a clean, safe environment for both patients and staff.
  • Organize and store supplies and equipment necessary for patient care efficiently.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree in Polysomnography or equivalent experience in the field.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA.
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Fundamental understanding of Anatomy and Physiology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One to two years of relevant experience in the field.
