Job Summary

United States Steel Corporation is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer who will be responsible for implementing the quality assurance program in the manufacturing facility, including partnering with the Operations team to monitor for adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review customer specifications and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide metallurgical technical support to Operations management, including process optimization and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Identify process changes for quality improvements and analyze process and product data to inform decision-making.
  • Perform quality audits and manage the quality system to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical and quality systems support to the producing facility, including rejection analysis and process improvement recommendations.
  • Apply education and technical experience to utilize problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.
  • Provide technical service to internal customers in physical and metallurgical characteristics of process and products and quality control.
  • Develop and review various quality reports, conduct quality meetings, and perform daily audits to ensure operations are running within defined operation/quality parameters and procedures.
Requirements
  • Technical degree required, preferably in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science.
  • Experience in steel or heavy industrial manufacturing, with a strong understanding of quality systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Skills in developing collaborative relationships, analysis, continuous improvement, and verbal and written technical communication.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and API Q1 quality system requirements is a plus.
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science preferred.
