The role of the Emergency Medical Technician I is pivotal in ensuring the healthcare needs of underserved populations are met within correctional facilities. This position is responsible for coordinating patient transfers efficiently, ensuring that the highest standards of care are maintained throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the logistics of patient transfers, utilizing triage information to determine the most suitable transportation methods.
  • Input and maintain accurate patient data, vehicle status, and crew assignments using computer systems.
  • Assess and document the necessary level of medical care required during patient transfers based on their health condition.
  • Dispatch resources effectively to facilitate patient transfers while ensuring cost-efficiency and appropriate care levels.
  • Collect and analyze data related to vehicle maintenance, repair expenses, and operational statistics.
  • Adhere to established internal controls and protocols within the department.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.

Equipment Utilized:

Standard medical supplies and equipment necessary for patient care.

Work Environment:

This position operates within a secure correctional setting, requiring security clearance and compliance with pre-employment drug testing protocols.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, along with current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic from the Texas Department of Health.

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience.
