Job Summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Veterinary Technician III to join our team. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for conducting daily rounds to monitor the health and well-being of laboratory animals, providing surgical support and medical treatment as needed, and documenting and communicating findings to veterinary staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily rounds to monitor the health and well-being of laboratory animals, including examination, evaluation, treatment, and documentation of health issues and related service charges.
  • Prepare animals for surgery, including calculating and administering doses of drugs, anesthetizing, intubating, preparing and draping, and monitoring vital signs.
  • Monitor and document the psychological well-being of animals and provide environmental enrichment.
  • Prepare, maintain, and clean surgical suite and anesthesia equipment in accordance with established policies and regulations.
  • Provide hands-on training to other veterinary and husbandry technicians and to research staff under the direction of the Training Coordinator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range:
$17.10 - $29.09 / Hourly.

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade, and department budget.
