Minimum Qualifications

Carteret Community College is seeking applications for a Full-Time Cashier position within the Business Office. The primary role of this position is to manage cash transactions and ensure accurate financial record-keeping.

Minimum Hiring Salary: $29,640

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurate posting of all funds received by the institution in the financial database.
  • Reconciliation and preparation of daily bank deposits.
  • Reporting daily cash transactions to relevant authorities.
  • Issuing checks for payroll and accounts payable.
  • Processing refunds for students, staff, and faculty.
  • Providing assistance to customers at the cashier window and via telephone inquiries.
  • Maintaining organized records of all fees collected.
  • Preparing various financial reports as required.
  • Managing petty cash and vending funds.
  • Conducting surprise cash counts in all departments.
  • Maintaining records for student promissory notes.
  • Processing all NSF checks in coordination with the appropriate offices.
  • Collaborating with accounts receivable staff to maintain accurate student records.
  • Monitoring payment plans to ensure accurate recording of transactions.
  • Reviewing reconciliation forms for compliance before submission.
  • Managing office supplies and reordering as necessary.
  • Performing general administrative tasks to support the Business Office staff.
  • Sorting and distributing incoming mail to designated mailboxes.
  • Scanning documents into the electronic filing system.
  • Making copies of financial documents for invoicing purposes.
  • Carrying out miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Education:

Associate's degree (preferred) in a Business-related field with at least 9 semester hours in Accounting or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Skills:

Proficiency in computerized spreadsheet and database systems is essential. A minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in an accounting role is required.
